The Town of Tonawanda, N.Y., plans on purchasing 30,000 recycling totes made by Rehrig Pacific of Pennsylvania for nearly $1.4 million, which will be delivered to residents in September if the bond for purchase is approved during a public hearing on June 5.
The town purchased covered totes for garbage 12 years ago and has held off on purchasing covered recycling totes until it was able to afford them.

The Town of Tonawanda is taking the last steps to purchase 30,000 garbage totes at a cost of nearly $1.4 million.
A public hearing to approve a bond for the purchase will be held at 7 p.m. June 5 in the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave.
Councilman John A. Bargnesi Jr. said these are the final steps to bring the covered recycling bins to residents. If approved, totes will be delivered to residents in September.
