Sandals South Coast and Jamaica Recycles are partnering on an initiative to better handle waste material by installing a recycling baler unit.

Jamaica Recycles installed the baler unit at Sandals South Coast, which will handle cardboard, white plastic, clear plastic, and aluminum cans. Completed bales are expected to be approximately 450 pounds of plastic and 1,200 pounds of cardboard.

“We’re excited about the partnership with Sandals South Coast and the reception we received from the team there. It’s an ideal initiative for the resort as, based on what we’ve seen, they already had a culture of recycling,” said Richard Campbell, Business Development Manager at Jamaica Recycles.

Jamacia Recycles now has a recycling baler service at 27 hotels on the island’s coasts.
