Recovered paper consumption by U.S. industry fell 4 percent in April compared with March.

According to data from the Washington-based American Forest & Paper Association, recovered paper in the most recent month reached 2.48 million tons.

For the year consumption has dropped 3 percent compared with a year ago, the association said in a news release.

U.S. recovered paper exports in March, however, climbed 7 percent compared with the previous month. The increase came mainly from mixed and old corrugated cardboard. For 2012 so far exports have increased 3 percent compared with the previous year.
