In Russia, many residents are battling overconsumption, and the issue is only getting worse because Russia does not have an organized recycling system. Once a month, residents carry separated recyclables to various collection points, which are set up and run by volunteers of Greenpeace Russia.

Greenpeace has been leading these recycling efforts since October 2014, and now thousands of residents are stepping up and demanding a proper recycling system from the government.

Greenpeace has the details:

Overconsumption is a big problem for some people in Russia. But they don't have access to a proper recycling system. Once a month, people have to carry their separate recyclables to a collection point that's run entirely by volunteers. There is no state-run recycling programme.
