Upstate Shredding LLC-Ben Weitsman has acquired scrap metal recycling firm Jack’s Recycling for an undisclosed cash amount.

The Owego, N.Y.-based Upstate Shredding said in a news release that the purchase of the automotive and ferrous and nonferrous scrap firm, based in Mount Morris, Pa., marks its third purchase this year. The deal is expected to close in about 30 days.

Jack’s Recycling yard now will be Ben Weitsman of Mount Morris. The acquired company continues to expand its footprint in the region, Upstate Shredding said. It is located 65 miles south of Pittsburgh and employs 11.

“This is a great strategic move for expanding our reach throughout the Northeast, especially with our two new shredders being built in Albany (N.Y.) and New Castle (Pa.),” said Adam Weitsman, owner of Upstate Shredding. “We do not yet have a location in this region of the Northeast, so this acquisition is filling a great need to serve Mount Morris and the surrounding regions.”
