Sterling Heights-based Rizzo Environmental Services Inc. added Canton Township to its 38 other waste hauler communities in metro Detroit starting Wednesday, through a deal to acquireCanton Waste Recycling Inc.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Canton Waste is the municipal hauler for Canton Township, which is home to the Sauk Trail Hills Development Landfill, owned by Arizona-based Republic Services Inc. Canton residents have free waste disposal under an unrelated township host agreement for that landfill, but pay for waste collection under its contract with Canton Waste.
