Sri Lanka Sends Illegal Waste Back to UK

Sri Lanka has return 263 shipping containers back to the UK after discovering they contained more than what the label said.

Containers labelled as "used mattresses, carpets and rugs," made their way to Sir Lanka. They were marked as recyclable waste, but instead they contained hazardous medical waste including body parts, bandages and rags.

Sri Lanka is asking for 1.6 billion Sri Lankan rupees (€7.6 million) from the UK for violating the Basel Convention.
