Correction

  • Waste Age's July cover story, “Don't It Make Your Green Trucks Blue?,” incorrectly reported the city that awarded Fairfield, Calif.-based Solano Garbage Co. its garbage hauling contract two years ago. The city was Fairfield. Waste Age regrets the error.



Announcement

  • Federal Signal Corp., Oak Brook, Ill., has announced it will consolidate Leach and Wittke, its two leading North American refuse-body manufacturers, into a single Leach brand. The company has made a tentative decision to consolidate the production of all front-, rear- and side-load refuse bodies into its current manufacturing site in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada. The company estimates the transition will take about nine months.



In Memoriam

  • Janet Ann Perry, co-owner of J.V. Manufacturing, Springdale, Ark., died of breast cancer at her home on July 4, 2004. She was 74 years old. Perry directed marketing and advertising at the company she owned with her husband Jack. She is survived by her husband, three children, three siblings, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to the Circle of Life Hospice, 610 E. Emma, Springdale, AR, 72764.

Prior to joining Penton, Stephen worked as a reporter for The Marietta Daily Journal and The Fulton County Daily Report, both of which are located in metro Atlanta.
