Momentum Recycling has opened a glass recycling facility in Salt Lake City.
The company, also based in Salt Lake City, said in a news release the facility has a production capacity of more than 3,000 tons of glass cullet per month. Momentum Recycling has added 12 employees with the new facility.
The facility will process post-consumer bottle and plate glass from the Utah’s Wasatch Front region. The operation has indoor storage for up to 1,500 tons of glass.
Momentum said prior to the plant’s opening, the glass recycling rate in Utah was about 4 percent, compared to a national average of about 27 percent. “With this new facility, recycling glass is getting a lot easier,” said John Lair, Momentum Recycling CEO.
