D'Addario Reaches String-recycling MilestoneD'Addario Reaches String-recycling Milestone
The musical instrument company has recycled 2 million strings via its string recycling program.

Playback, musical instrument company D’Addario’s industry-wide string recycling program that’s powered by TerraCycle, has reached its latest milestone of 2 million strings recycled.
For decades, D’Addario has been a pioneer in sustainability. Using 100-percent, eco-friendly packaging and planting trees in family-owned forests are just a few ways it has made an impact on the planet. In 2016, the company took this commitment to the next level with Playback, which rewards players for recycling any brand of strings. This month, it’s celebrating 2 million strings recycled. And it’s just getting started.
This milestone comes just seven months after reaching its goal of 1 million strings recycled in 2017, when the Playback program doubled in size.
Playback is also part of D’Addario’s Players Circle loyalty program—once registered, members who recycle strings are rewarded with points that can be redeemed for new sets of strings, picks, gear and other accessories. The points can also be used to Play It Forward—members can donate their points to D’Addario’s nonprofit organization, the D’Addario Foundation, to help fund music programs in underserved communities.
