The Reno County (Nev.) Commission is considering adopting a plan that would raise landfill fees annually and culminating at $100 in 2021—a 41 percent increase over a five-year span.

The Hutchinson News has the details of the proposed plan:

The commission next week will consider adopting a plan that hikes the special assessment on individual property taxes by $9.25 a year, from the current $70.75 per lot to $80.

While that’s the highest hike in one year, it won’t stop there.

The proposal then calls for additional raises of $6 per year for the following three years, concluding with a $2 increase in 2021.

That brings the annual fee that year to $100 − more than a 41 percent increase in total fees over the five years.
