A fire over the weekend at the Metalico Buffalo, N.Y., a scrap metal recycling company, took hours to put out and is estimated to have caused millions of dollars in damage.

Around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, firefighters showed up to the scene at the recycling center to take on the blaze. Commissioner William Renaldo mentioned that the fire took as long to put out as it did due to hydrocarbons in the pile of scrap metal.

"Lawnmowers to automobiles to motorcycles. They're supposed to have the gas tanks and oil tanks drained completely, but I'm sure they get some of those vehicles that aren't," said Commissioner Renaldo.

No injuries were reported, and the damage is estimated to be around $2 million, which includes damage to some of Metalico Buffalo’s equipment.
