Oceanside, Calif., Updates Waste and Recycling Code
The new code changes go hand-in-hand with the city’s current waste and recycling practices.
The City of Oceanside, Calif., made an update to its waste and recycling code on February 1. The new code changes, which go hand-in-hand with the city’s current waste and recycling practices, require that multifamily buildings have a specific amount of recycling bins to ensure that all residents have access to recycling bins. The code also requires small businesses to have a 96-gallon landfill cart and a 96-gallon recycling cart instead of two landfill carts and a recycling bin for an additional cost.

Oceanside is becoming greener — that much was reflected in an update made to its waste and recycling code on Feb. 1.
Code changes align with the city’s current waste practices and rigorous recycling.
“All customers, residential, commercial, large and small, are required to have recycling and green waste services,” Colleen Foster, city senior management analyst, said. “The new code update provides greater guidance on minimum standards for customers.”
