Covanta WTE Facility Receives Permit Modification

Covanta Holding Corp., Fairfield, N.J., has received a permit modification from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to increase the daily amount of solid waste its waste-to-energy facility in Delaware County, Pa., receives and extend its operating hours.

According to a press release, the facility can accept as much as 5,700 tons of solid waste each day, but will not increase its maximum weekly volume. The facility will now open an hour earlier each day, and waste will be accepted on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day.
