Winters Brothers Waste Systems Completes Danbury, Conn., Transfer Station Purchase

Winters Brothers Waste Systems of Westbury, N.Y., secured the last piece of a Danbury, Conn., transfer station complex from the U.S. Marshals Service. The deal for two primary transfer station buildings ends one year of negotiations and concludes the acquisition of assets once owned by Automated Waste Disposal and its affiliates. The deal was brokered by Dominick and Dominick LLC, a New York City private wealth management and investment banking firm. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“It’s been a long process but the purchase of the final piece of the transfer stations now allows us to move forward and offer better service to our customers and the haulers that use the facility,” said Joe Winters, president and CEO of Winters Brothers, in a press release.
With the lengthy transaction complete, Winters said “several million dollars” will be spent over the next few years to upgrade the transfer station’s infrastructure and make it more customer-friendly. According to a press release, this will include the eventual installation of new scales will allow haulers to weigh in and weigh out faster.
