British pop star boy george had a chance to break out his no-run mascara as he spent five stifling August days collecting garbage on the streets of New York City. The 45-year-old former Culture Club front man was assigned the community service after pleading guilty in March to falsely reporting a break-in at his Manhattan apartment. Though George publicly swore off drugs as part of his recent conversion to Hare Krishna, police responding to the call found cocaine on the premises. The chagrined 1980s icon managed to avoid a charge of possession, no doubt by imploring, “Do you really want to make me cry?”

Steven is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he earned a BA in English.
