Beauty Waste Is Taking a Toll on Mother Earth

It’s no secret that more waste is being collected as people are quarantining at home because of COVID-19. Besides the normal residential trash being collected, there are numerous beauty items being tossed such as shampoo bottles, lipsticks, lotion containers, body wash containers. 

Throwing those items away instead of recycling is slowly taking a toll on our landfills, our oceans … our planet.

Did you know…

  • A quarter of the fish sold in California, for example, has been found to contain plastic?

  • The amount of end-of-life plastic packaging, which includes bottles, jars, bags, and "other," surrounding U.S. products has increased by more than 120 times since 1960?

  • In 2018, in the U.S. alone, almost 7.9 billion units of rigid plastic were created just for beauty and personal care products, according to Euromonitor International?
