BMW will be using recycled plastic from used fishing nets to create their next line of electric cars. This project is one step in the direction of their goal of using 40% secondary materials in the thermoplastics of new vehicles by the year 2030.

BMW Commits to Using Recycled Fishing Nets in New Electric Vehicles

BMW has announced new plans to use recycled plastic from fishing nets to create their new class of electric vehicles set to launch in 2025. With 100 million pounds of plastic waste lost in the ocean each year, this is just one step by the company towards doing its part to eliminate this issue. The company is hoping to double its current use of secondary materials in the thermoplastics of new vehicles from 20% to 40% by 2030. This is one step they are taking towards that goal.
