Airspace Saver Daily Cover

Airspace Saver Daily Cover, Prairieville, La., offers an alternative daily cover system that lasts between 12 and 24 months, and is made from Fabrene high-density polyethylene (HDPE) material, according to the company. The material is heat-welded to a desired width and length. High tensile-strength web straps are sewn over each heat weld and around the perimeter of the tarp. Steel D-rings are sewn onto each strap every 12 feet and on corners. The company also manufactures covers compatible with Canton, Ohio-based Tarpomatic Inc.'s automatic tarp rolling machine.

Aqua-Shed Technologies Inc., South Houston, Texas, offers the Aquashed fiber alternative daily cover, which is made with a tackifier and bird repellent. The Aquashed combines a polymer with recycled post-consumer fibers to produce a weather-proof, non-corrosive material, which also can be used to control odors and blowing litter, the company says. The fiber is mixed with water in a hydroseeding machine tank.

The cover lasts between 10 and 18 months, does not absorb water and is not breathable, the company says. Reinforced nylon web straps support material on both sides every 12 feet in both directions, with straps extending over the hem with a D-ring to install over compacted refuse.

Although covers are customized, the most frequent sizes purchased are 50 feet by 100 feet, 25 feet by 100 feet and 50 feet by 50 feet, the company says.

Mechanical paddle agitation and liquid recirculation help to mix the product, and tank sizes range from 300 gallons to 330 gallons to apply materials up to 230 feet long through a centrifugal slurry pump, the company says. Options include a hose reel and cab-operated pressurized flushers. HydroSeeders also can be used to control dust and stabilize soil, and for revegetation, Finn says.

Each 40-pound bag is designed to cover approximately 1,500 square feet, the company says. ProGuard SB also can be used in erosion control and hydromulch applications. The company also offers ConCover spray-applied slurry for intermediate and long-term cover applications, and the LitterFence, featuring an angled design that transmits waste to the landfill's base for pickup.
