Waste Services and Waste Management agree to $100k settlement in Wilcox case

Waste Services, Burlington, Ontario, Canada, and Charles A. Wilcox, the firm’s president and chief operating officer, have agreed to pay $100,000 to settle a lawsuit filed against Wilcox by Houston-based Waste Management Inc. The lawsuit, filed in July 2004, alleged breach of contract, including breach of a non-complete agreement. In a company press release, Waste Services Chairman and CEO David Sutherland-Yoest states his belief that the judge would have ruled in Waste Services’ favor, but says the company decided to settle “to bring an end to this distraction and eliminate the costs and risks of continuing the litigation.”
