Frontier Waste Solutions has expanded its reach in South Texas with the acquisition of Absolute Waste Services (AWS).

Corpus Christi-based AWS, which provides residential, commercial and roll-off services, was founded in 2001.

John Gustafson, Frontier CEO, commented: "The addition of AWS increases our presence and density in the Corpus Christi market, allowing us to serve our customers better.  We look forward to continuing to build on AWS’s success and providing our new customers and employees the excellent service and support that Frontier is known for.”

Gustafson founded the Dallas-based company in 2017 alongside Blue Sage Capital, acquiring several waste service providers across Texas. Prior to the AWS purchase, Frontier had 480 employees in 14 locations from the Texas/Oklahoma border to the Gulf of Mexico, according to the company.

AWS is the company's 17th acquisition. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In November 2022, founding investment partner Blue Sage Capital sold Frontier to Concentric Equity Partners and Summer Street Capital Partners.

“Frontier is excited to partner with investors like Summer Street and CEP that not only have substantial financial experience, but also a successful and tenured track record in the solid waste sector,” Gustafson noted at the time. “The managers and founders of Frontier remain significant owners and are excited for this next phase of growth and development including further vertical integration and materials processing”.
