Former West Roxbury Landfill Reopens as $18.2M Sports Complex

After $18.2 million in improvements, a former landfill has reopened as the West Roxbury Education Complex Raiders Field.

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh was on hand Saturday to rechristen the 14-acre park, which now includes four sports fields (football, baseball, softball and multi-sports) behind the West Roxbury Education Complex at 1205 Veterans of Foreign Wars Parkway. The public high school sports complex also includes a six-land paved running track with spectator stands, three tennis courts and two half-basketball courts.
