Catawba County, NC to Purchase 22 Acres for Landfill

Blackburn landfill in Catawba County needs more soil.

County officials are looking to purchase 22 acres of adjoining land to satisfy that need. The landfill faces a 6.5 million cubic yard shortage over its lifetime.

The county also plans to demolish vacant buildings. The total purchase price of the land is estimated at $440,000.
