Accepting 188,500 tons of municipal solid waste in the year 2021, Shelby County Landfill in Alabama was recently approved by the county commission for a 20-acre expansion.
The project will be a new waste cell constructed by Vinemont, Alabama-based T&K Construction. Cell number five, once constructed, is expected to provide the landfill with 3 million more cubic yards of air space. It is hoped the expansion will last the county ten additional years.
