The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) has named Rick Dodge its interim executive director after former executive director Ronald Mills resigned.

The Grove City, Ohio-based public waste and recycling authority said in a news release that Dodge, SWACO’s chief operations officer, will hold the position while a search for a permanent director is conducted.

Dodge joined SWACO in 1993 and became chief operations officer in 2007.

Mills, executive director of SWACO since 2007, resigned in late May following a controversy over an e-mail he sent criticizing Franklin County Commissioner John O’Grady and accidentally sending it to O’Grady, according to news reports.

Mills said in his resignation letter that he was quitting to "avoid prolonging the distractions" crated by the e-mail, SWACO confirmed in an e-mail.
