An electronics recycling plant in Elkridge plans to close in March, resulting in the loss of 86 jobs.
Chicago-based Sims Recycling Solutions specializes in disposing of and recycling information technology equipment.
Steve Skurnac, the president of Sims, said the plant lost a federal government contract, which made up a "large volume" of the material that the plant processed. Local customers outside of the federal contract will be kept by Sims, but their materials will be processed at plant locations in Chicago and Nashville, Tenn.
