Midland, Mich., City Council OKs Recycling Contract

City of Midland residents will continue to have monthly recycling service for the next five years and will be paying more for yard waste collection as part of decisions the Midland City Council made on Monday.

The council opted not to increase recycling collection to every two weeks because it would cost $232,519 more per year. Instead, it will sign a new five-year contract with Republic Services of Pinconning for $426,564 annually, with a 3 percent increase in per-stop rates each year.
