Silver Spring, Md. -- The Solid Waste Association of North America's (SWANA) WASTECON 2001, held Oct. 15-18 in Baltimore, Md., drew more than 3,400 participants, 220 exhibitors and more than 20 technical sessions.
The opening reception had more than 800 attendees, and the awards banquet had 250 attendees. Four all-day facility tours raked in more than 150 attendees, with 180 people participating in various training courses.
"Given the uncertain situation that we're in with the economy and the events of Sept. 11, we [at SWANA] think it was an outstanding turnout," says John Skinner, SWANA's executive director and CEO.
