The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) recently released an infographic illustrating the association’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The association was active in outreach to federal, state, and local governments and was in regular communication with member companies.

“During this unprecedented global health crisis, waste and recycling collection workers remain on the job; they are vital,” said NWRA President and CEO Darrell Smith. “We know from history that without reliable waste collection, illness and disease can spread. From the beginning of this COVID-19 pandemic through today, NWRA staff have been aggressive in our efforts to ensure our member companies and their employees have all the resources they need to operate safely.”

The NWRA’s record outreach included 121 wins for the industry, 2212 communications to the Federal Government, 1529 letters to state and local governments and others. The association will continue an ongoing effort to keep the industry safe and open.
