Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. has appointed Ian Kidson as vice president and chief financial officer.

The Vaughan, Ontario-based Progressive Waste said in a news release that Kidson will succeed Thomas Cowee, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities. Cowee will remain with Progressive the fourth quarter to aid with the transition.

Kidson most recently served as managing director and co-head TD Capital Mezzanine Partners for 10 years, leading subordinated debt and equity investments in North American businesses in sectors including waste management, cable media, manufacturing logistics, broadcast media, regulated transportation, financial, aerospace and software.

“Ian's familiarity with our business and the focus he brings on capital allocation and returns makes him an ideal addition to our team,” said Joseph Quarin, vice chairman and CEO of Progressive Waste.
