Newfield lawmakers are considering a ban that could end a more-than-two-1/2-year battle over the proposed waste transfer station on Bishop Road.
The Newfield Town Board is holding a public hearing on a solid waste management facilities ban 6:30 p.m. Thursday at The Newfield Fire Hall, 77 Main St.
If passed, the ban would prohibit Alternative Waste Services owner Bob Mente from building a waste transfer station for his business. Mente said he would lose a $50,000 investment in the station if it were blocked.
