eBay UK has made a change to its sales of secondhand clothing that is a significant step for the company and its commitment to sustainability.

Effective immediately, eBay has abolished fees on the sales of second-hand clothing on its platform, a move to encourage more buyers to participate in the circular economy of fashion. “Free fashion selling has come at the right time for a nation sitting on billions of [dollars] worth of unwanted clothes,” said Kirsty Keoghan, eBay’s general manager of global fashion.

This move is the latest step for the company pursuing larger sustainability goals. eBay is planning to divert more clothing from landfills and contribute to waste reduction in the fashion industry.
