Coldplay Announces New Album will be Made with Recycled Plastic Bottles

Coldplay, one of the industry’s leading sustainability advocates, is releasing its new album, Moon Music, on vinyl made from plastic bottles.

Coldplay, one of the industry’s leading sustainability advocates, is releasing its new album, Moon Music, on vinyl made from plastic bottles.

According the to band, the EcoRecord LP will be a “world first” and will reduce carbon emissions by 85 percent. The sustainable focused production will also prevent the manufacturing of more than 25 metric tons of virgin plastic waste.

For those without a record player or who would rather have a smaller edition, the CD of the new album will be available and will be made up from 90 percent recycled polycarbonate which will be gathered from post-consumer waste streams.
