Proposal Suggests Doubling Nashville's Recycling Pickup

There's a new proposal to double Nashville's recycling pickup to twice a month.

Officials want to encourage more people to recycle and are hoping that more residents will get in the habit if pickups are increased.

"We think the more convenient a program is, the more participation you are going to have, so we think it will increase demand, and hopefully, increase tonnage," said Public Works Director Randy Lovett.

Curbside recycling bins line the street in Mary Payne's neighborhood, but pickup is only once a month.
