WMI purchases assets from Allied Waste Industries

Houston—Waste Management, Inc. (WMI) announced that it has closed the purchase of collection assets from Allied Waste Industries. The acquisitions include hauling operations in Augusta, Ga., Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Garfield and Pitkins Counties in Colorado. WMI will divest certain waste hauling assets in Georgia, Colorado, New Jersey and South Carolina as part of an agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Washington, D.C.

The company expects to finalize the sale/purchase of collection, recycling and transfer assets in New Jersey, and has entered into a letter of intent with Allied Waste to purchase approximately $75 to $80 million in annual revenue in South Florida.
