HazMat Compliance Catalog

Best Practices Guide

The Canadian Affairs Council of the National Association for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR), Charlotte, N.C., has published “Canadian Best Practices in Post-Consumer PET Bottle Recycling,” which offers analysis of how post-consumer PET containers are collected, sorted and marketed in Canada. RCRA Guide

The Lead Industries Association (LIA), Sparta, N.J., has announced the availability of its “2001 Guide to the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act” (RCRA). The 22-page guide contains a discussion of federal hazardous waste laws and regulations with an emphasis on provisions governing the identification, handling, recycling and disposal of scrap material that contains lead. Source Reduction/Materials Book

“Materials Matter,” by Ken Geiser, discusses using fewer materials and eliminating the use of many toxic chemicals by focusing directly on material, or chemical, use when products are designed. The book offers tips on how manufacturers can save money by increasing the effectiveness of material use and reducing the use of toxic chemicals. The Used Truck Association (UTA), Indianapolis, has published “UTA Trade Terms & Conditions,” a set of guidelines on industry standards for buying and selling used trucks. The Tire Retread Information Bureau (TRIB) has published the latest version of its “Retread Buyers Guide.” The guide contains the names of retreaders throughout the United States, Canada and other countries.
