Grissom named CFO for Waste Holdings, Compaction America Promotes Perisho

Compaction America Inc., Kewanee, Ill., has named Rex A. Perisho senior vice president of marketing and sales.

Volvo Trucks North America Inc., Greensboro, N.C., has named Susan Alt vice president of marketing, Gene Parker vice president of sales for the Southeast region, David Plaster vice president of sales for the Northeast region and Keith Brandis head of product planning initiatives for the company's global planning organization and its Volvo Trucks division.

Safety-Kleen Corp., Columbia, S.C., has named Ronald A. Rittenmeyer chairman, CEO and president.

The Solid Waste Association of North America's (SWANA) New York State Chapter has named its board of directors and officers for 2001-2003. Elected officials include: Suzanne LaLonde, recycling consultant and new president of SWANA N.Y.; Theodore Pytlar Jr., Dvirka and Bartilucci Engineers and new vice president; Joseph Murdoch, HDR Engineering Inc. and new secretary; Charles Weidner, Dunn Engineering and Associates, and new treasurer; and Russell Rutkowski, Monroe County Department of Environmental Services and new International Board Representative. Other elected board members include: Scott Daniels, solid waste consultant; Joanne Guerriero, Malcom Pirnie; Edwin Marr, City of Buffalo; Robert Matarazzo, Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities; and Stephen Wing, Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency.

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), West Conshohocken, Pa., has named Kathleen Kono vice president of global cooperation.

Alcoa Wheel and Forged Products (AWFP), Cleveland, a business unit of Alcoa Inc., has named Mario Longhi president. Cleveland-based Alcoa Wheel Products also has added Ricardo I. Hernandez and Frederic T. Franklin to its sales and marketing department.

Chester Waxman, I. Waxman and Sons Ltd., Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, and his wife, Bailey, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 4, 2001.

Joseph T. Kavanaugh has joined Metcalf and Eddy, Wakefield, Mass., as vice president.

Golder Associates Inc., Redmond, Wash., has named Bryan Rawson chief information officer, Donna DeFrancesco project ecological scientist, Cliff Knitter senior program manager for pipeline and energy services, Pam Kamysz marketing programs manager, Dawn Shuttle associate, and Rick Kossik, Joe Hachey and Kent Angelos principals. Andrew Walker, senior geotechnical engineer, also has relocated from Mississauga, Ontario, to the company's Redmond office.

Joyce/Dayton Corp., Dayton, Ohio, has named Larry Cox regional sales manager for the company's lifting equipment division.

The Allison Transmission division of General Motors Corp., Indianapolis, has named Karen E. Caswelch director of purchasing.

D. Stephen Grissom has been named chief financial officer (CFO) and vice president of finance for Waste Holdings Inc., Raleigh, N.C.

Grissom has 24 years of controllership and CFO experience, most recently as CFO for Austin Quality Foods, which was purchased by Keebler Foods, Battle Creek, Mich., in March 2000.

He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and currently is an executive committee member of Junior Achievement of Eastern North Carolina. Additionally, Grissom is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the North Carolina Association of CPAs.

Grissom holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from North Carolina State University, Raleigh. He lives with his wife, Vicky, and their four children in Raleigh.
