An Artist in Residence program founded in 1990 by Norcal Waste Systems encourages artists to comb the company's San Francisco facilities for materials and provides them with studio space and tools. The resulting pieces, such as this life-sized Hummer carved from salvaged Styrofoam, are displayed in an on-site gallery.
