Research shows that 40 percent of all food is wasted at an average of $2,200 each year per household in the U.S. With that in mind, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture is partnering with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, The Food Bank of South Jersey, Mercer Street Friends and Norwescap to help prevent food waste.
The More Meals Less Waste campaign, which includes billboards, social media ads and radio spots, will inform residents and businesses about what can be done to help prevent food waste.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s economic crisis, the Community FoodBank has seen an unprecedented increase in requests for food assistance and connection to other essential resources and has distributed more than 30 million nutritious meals from March through July this year.
