Closure of Dale County C&D Landfill Could Cause Problems

As soon as its next scheduled meeting, the Dale County Commission will likely approve the virtual shutdown of its construction and demolition landfill.

The landfill has become a financial albatross for the county, as Chairman Mark Blankenship said the county has been losing between $50,000 and $60,000 per year on running it.

“Hopefully at the next meeting we’ll pass a resolution to close it,” Blankenship said after Friday morning’s commission meeting.
