Xerox Releases Environmental Report

Stamford, Conn. -- Xerox Corp. has published the results of its 2001 Environment, Health and Safety Progress Report, announcing that it has kept nearly 160 million pounds of materials out of landfills through re-manufacturing, recycling and reuse, saving customers more than 800 million kilowatt-hours of electricity by using its Energy Star products.

The company also has announced that more than 7 million cartridges and toner containers were returned to Xerox in 2000 to be re-manufactured or recycled; 96 percent of hazardous waste generated by the company was treated, recycled or used as fuel; Xerox facilities released 198 tons of air emissions in 2000, a 24-percent decrease from 1999; worldwide company operations recycled 80 percent of non-hazardous solid waste; and the company reused or recycled 95 percent of equipment returned in 2000.
