The Wexford County Board of Public Works is seeking an experienced leader to direct the Public Works and Utilities Department in this northwestern Michigan county including water, sewer, wastewater treatment, landfill, recycling and lake projects.

Reports to the Board of Public Works on BPW-related projects such as sewer and water projects. Director shall report to the Wexford County Board of Commissioners or its designee as identified in the Wexford County Policies and Procedures Manual for the purposes of ensuring that Wexford County policies and procedures are followed.

A comprehensive benefit package is offered including group health insurance with dental coverage. Supervises 10 full-time employees in the utility and landfill divisions.

Requires strong background and education in civil engineering, grant writing, budget preparation, accounting and personnel. The successful candidate must possess leadership and management skills, excellent communication/customer service skills and be a team leader. A minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in the public sector is desirable. Salary range $44,310-$57,546 depending on qualifications.
