Senate Confirms Leavitt

Washington D.C. -- The Senate has confirmed Republican Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt as head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by a vote of 88-8. The confirmation went through in spite of attempts by several Democrats to block his nomination as a statement against the environmental policies of the Bush administration. Leavitt will start work Nov. 6.
