Mediator Called in to Aid Strike Negotiations

Lynn Schenkman

Chicago -- The strike between Teamsters representing trash haulers and the Chicagoland Refuse Haulers Association (CRHA) is one week old and, according to news sources, still has not solved some of the Teamsters’ key demands regarding wages and health benefits. A federal mediator has been called in to expedite negotiations. News sources report city crews are handling the extra work the private companies are too short staffed to pick up.
