WM (Waste Management) and the City of Charleston, W.Va. have set up a lease for a new waste storage facility to be established next to the City’s landfill.

Kevin Baker, Charleston City Attorney, commented that the current city landfill is nearing the end of its life expectancy. The lease agreement states that approximately 30.5 acres will be used for the construction of the new facility next to the landfill.

“The routes will pretty much be the same as they always have been so there won’t be a lot of disruptions in the general operations,” Baker said.

The project is expected to get started in the Summer of next year.
