Myrtle Beach is preparing to host its annual music festival, the Carolina Country Music Fest, and organizers are putting a focus on recycling for a good cause.

“We have noticed, at the end of the night, when we have to rally everybody up and get them out of the area - how much trash there is,” said Liz Bradley, an organizer of the event. “...up to your calf when you walk. Especially up by the stage.”

Bradley has communicated with the City of Myrtle Beach to express her concerns over the waste produced at the music festival and what is being done with it.

“We talked about aluminum, and we talked about maybe figuring out a way to recycle the aluminum and then use the money that comes from recycling for one of the causes,” said Bradley.

Amie Lee, Carolina Country Music Fest representative, says that the festival has been working with the city on recycling efforts. This year, the event will have recycling trailers and proceeds from recycled aluminum cans will go toward the South Carolina Burned Children’s Fund.
