WM Elkridge, Md., Upgrades Six Screens With Non-wrapping Design

Waste Management’s Kit Kat Road facility in Elkridge, Maryland has recently upgraded their screens for VAN DYK’s newest anti-wrapping screens. The 50tph system does 1,000 tons per day and operates around the clock. With this non-stop schedule, the plant has little time for maintenance. Cleaning their old screens took too much time and manpower and ate into the time needed for other maintenance. The non-wrapping screens can reduce cleaning time by 90%, with customers reporting cleaning times of just ten minutes per shift.

The retrofit included replacement of six screens. Four Non-Wrapping 440 screens replaced four existing ONP screens, and two new commingled screens (with updated design) replaced two existing commingled screens. Each screen was upgraded from a 2540mm (8.3’) width to a 3040mm (10’) width. The 50tph system frequently pushes over 60tph, so the extra width on the screens will give the plant the flexibility to further increase tonnage in the future.

The Non-Wrapping 440 Screen can be retrofit into any system. To learn more about its benefits, contact VAN DYK at 203-967-1100 or [email protected].
