Chesapeake Public Works’ Waste Management Division is looking at the efficiency of its residential trash collection and routes.
The Virginia-Pilot has the details:
The city is using RouteSmart Technologies, a company headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, to analyze its trash collection data.
RouteSmart assists in driving down both costs and inefficiencies in routing operations of its customers that have to service multiple addresses on a daily basis, according to the company website.
The first phase of the data collection ended July 1. The company now will make its recommendations to Public Works and then there will be several months of nailing down any changes that should be implemented.
