Lycoming County, Penn. Seeks to Expand Landfill

Only 20 percent of the waste at the Lycoming County, Pa. landfill comes from its residents. As a major revenue-generating source, county commissioners have approved to purchase land to expand the site.

According to news reports, the landfill has provided $12.5 million to the county's general funds in the past five years. Plans to buy the adjacent property, which was an old prison for draft dodgers, had been set in motion for decades.
