Georgetown Investigates Old Municipal Landfill Cleanup

Georgetown, Dela. officials are preparing to open an investigation into the remediation of an old municipal landfill.

The facility, which sits on 16 acres, operated from 1938 until 1969. An evaluation report published in January 2021 showed excessive levels of contaminants in the soil, groundwater and sediment around the property.

Officials will complete additional laboratory testing to determine the next steps in the process.
